Astros apologize after prospect’s sexist tweet about ESPN’s Jessica Mendoza

The Astros issued an apology Wednesday night after a minor leaguer sent a sexist tweet in reference to ESPN broadcaster Jessica Mendoza.

Brooks Marlow, a 23-year-old infielder who was drafted in the 29th round in 2015, wrote: “No lady needs to be on espn talking during a baseball game specially Mendoza sorry.” He deleted the tweet after a few minutes.

Mendoza was calling Wednesday night’s National League Wild Card game between the Mets and Giants. The two-time Olympic softball medalist has been a baseball analyst for ESPN since 2014 and began calling games on ESPN’ flagship Sunday Night Baseball this season.
