While a leadoff home run on the first pitch of the 2018 MLB season by Chicago Cubs center fielder Ian Happ was unbelievable, the best moment of Thursday's opener between the Cubs and the Miami Marlins came courtesy of Anthony Rizzo.
Last month, seventeen people were killed in a shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, Rizzo's alma mater. Rizzo delivered an emotional speech at the vigil, and the tragedy has led to him speaking out on gun violence.
The Cubs happened to open this season at Marlins Park in Miami, less than an hour drive from Stoneman Douglas High.
