Baseball players never want to end a game wearing a (golden) sombrero, but given the circumstances, Los Angeles Angels rookie Carlos Perez was happy to wear one after his major league debut.
Perez appeared in his first big league game Tuesday night against the Seattle Mariners. The 24-year-old catcher notched his first career hit (a single) in his first at-bat.
But he wasn't finished yet.
With the game tied 4-4, Perez stepped to the plate to lead off the bottom of the ninth inning. On the second pitch of the at-bat, he hit a line drive over the left-field wall to give him a walk-off home run.
