As Major League Baseball continues to investigate domestic violence allegations against Chicago Cubs shortstop Addison Russell, his wife, Melisa Russell, has filed for divorce.
Per ESPN.com, the law firm representing Melisa issued a statement Wednesday announcing the divorce proceedings between the two parties and said she won't meet with MLB to discuss the allegations against Russell.
"It is her desire to pursue a resolution that is, first and foremost, in the best interest of the parties' son, and which occurs in a swift, amicable and private fashion," the statement issued by Beermann Pritikin Mirabelli Swerdlove LLP on Melisa's behalf said.
