A Look At The Cubs/Mariners Trade: One That Makes Sense For Both Sides

With trade season underway, the Cubs and Mariners have made an under-the-radar move.

It’s been no secret that the Chicago Cubs have been on the lookout to improve their bullpen. They’ve been linked to both of the presumably available Yankees relief aces, Aroldis Chapman and Andrew Miller, although the price of at least Kyle Schwarber has scared them off of Miller for now, according to Buster Olney.

Nevertheless, on Wednesday, the Cubs were able to go out and get a valuable piece for their bullpen. They acquired left-handed pitcher Mike Montgomery and pitching prospect Jordan Pries from the Seattle Mariners for the price of 1B/DH prospect Dan Vogelbach and pitching prospect Paul Blackburn.
