The Arizona Diamondbacks are 14.5 games out with 19 to play. Allow me to be the first to make this bold prediction: their playoff hopes are over.
Now, not many people expected this team to make the playoffs in 2015, and with good reason. The D’Backs finished last year with the worst record in MLB at 64-98, so maybe we should be celebrating the fact that they surpassed last year’s win total to start September. But mediocrity is only so fun to celebrate, and it’s hard to see the team miss the playoffs for the fourth year in a row.
