Meola isn't the biggest name in the baseball world, and he's not even a true reporter. However, he's the same guy who scooped every baseball reporter on the Giancarlo Staton extension. Julie DicCaro of The Cauldron and 670 The Score in Chicago also reported the Cubs and Yankees were talking about a Chapman trade. However, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports the rumors are false.
Adam Warren is an intriguing player to be included, since the Yankees traded him to the Cubs in exchange for Starlin Castro. Infielder Javier Baez would help the Yankees infield and is currently stuck behind Addison Russell and Ben Zobrist in Chicago. Baez can play multiple positions and could start at third base over Chase Headley.
The addition of Chapman would likely result in Hector Rondon becoming a set-up man. The Cincinnati Reds traded Chapman to the Yankees this offseason in exchange for prospects. Chapman has 11 saves this year with a 1.93 ERA.
