MLB Trade Rumors Roundup: Two Teams Lead For Darvish, Possible Lucroy Deal & More

The MLB Trade Deadline is tomorrow at 4 p.m. ET, and as a result, trade rumors are flying across the league as talks heat up. We've already had a few big trades today with the New York Yankees getting Jaime Garcia and Kansas City Royals getting Melky Cabrera, but a lot more action is expected in the next 24 hours. Here are all the latest MLB trade rumors you need to know.

Yankees, Dodgers lead for Yu Darvish
The Texas Rangers would like to deal star pitcher Yu Darvish before the deadline, and the Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers have emerged as the two most serious suitors for him, according to Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

The source said that the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees are the two mostly likely landing spots for Darvish, a free agent after the season along with Lucroy, Cashner and three other teammates. Rangers executives, including general manager Jon Daniels, spent time last weekend at Tampa Bay explaining to Darvish the possibilities ahead of the deadline.

The Rangers are hopeful they will be able to do what the Yankees did last year with Aroldis Chapman — trade him to a contender and re-sign him in the off-season. Darvish has told the Rangers that he wants to continue his career with them, but a second source said that he wants to see what the market holds for him.

Darvish is 6-9 with a 4.01 ERA and 148 strikeouts in 22 starts this season.

Rangers, Rockies discussing possible Jonathan Lucroy trade
Jonathan Lucroy is another rental player the Rangers are looking to part with by the deadline, and they're working on a deal that would send him to the Colorado Rockies, according to Thomas Harding of MLB.com.

Lucroy is batting .242 with four home runs and 27 RBIs in 77 games this season.

Red Sox targeting Addison Reed
The Boston Red Sox are looking to upgrade their bullpen before the trade deadline and have apparently set their focus on Addison Reed, according to Sean McAdam of the Boston Sports Journal.

A day before the non-waiver trading deadline, talks between the Red Sox and New York Mets on a potential deal for righty reliever Addison Reed are intensifying, though not to a point where a deal is close, an industry source with knowledge of the discussions said.

Boston has had talks with the New York Mets about several players over the last few weeks, including Reed, Asdrubal Cabrera, T.J. Rivera, Curtis Granderson and Jay Bruce.

Reed is set to be a free agent after the season, meaning the Red Sox may not have to part with their top prospects in order to land him. His pending free agency is also motivating the Mets to move him.

Reed has a 2.57 ERA with 19 saves and 48 strikeouts in 49 innings in 48 appearances this season.
