The MLB hot stove has cooled off dramatically now that the waiver trade deadline has passed, but there are still a few rumblings around the league ahead of the postseason. With that in mind, here are all the latest MLB rumors and news you need to know.
White Sox to take offers for Sale
The Chicago White Sox had placed star pitcher Chris Sale on the trade block prior to the non-waiver trade deadline, but ultimately decided to keep him. However, he may not be on the team next season. According to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe, the Sox plan to listen for offers for Sale this winter - but it will take a lot for another team to get him:
Yes, the White Sox will listen on trade proposals involving Sale this offseason, but according to a team source, “The odds of getting what we feel we need to get are slim. That’s why I think Chris will be with us in 2017.”
Sale is 15-8 with a 3.03 ERA so far this season.
deGrom latest
New York Mets ace Jacob deGrom is recovering from a bout with forearm tightness, and with the minor league season ending, the Mets plan to use him out of the bullpen during their run at the wild card until he's back at full strength, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com.

Phillies want to re-sign Hellickson
After being rumored to be shopping Jeremy Hellickson before the trade deadline, the Philadelphia Philles now want to re-sign the starting pitcher, reports Ryan Lawrence of PhillyVoice.com.
A day later, back at Citizens Bank Park, Mackanin was asked about whether he’d like to have veteran pitcher Jeremy Hellickson back and managed to work the topic into that conversation, too.
“Yeah I’d like to see him back, (Hellickson has) been a stabilizer for us,” Mackanin said. “He gives us a lot of innings. The best part about this year is getting a getting a look at all of our starters and we’re pretty happy with what we’ve seen from all of our starters.
Hellickson is 11-9 with a 3.76 ERA in 29 starts this season.
