MLB Rumors Roundup: Dodgers A Threat To Land McCutchen, Royals May Deal Dyson & More

We're already a full month into the MLB offseason, and the hot stove is in full swing. While a few of the most notable free agents have been taken off the market already, there are a plethora of trade rumors swirling around the league. Here is all the latest MLB news and rumors:

Dodgers enter trade discussions for McCutchen
The Pittsburgh Pirates began actively shopping All-Star outfielder Andrew McCutchen this week, and almost immediately were engaged in trade talks with the Washington Nationals. However, the Los Angeles Dodgers have now entered the race to land McCutchen, according to ESPN's Buster Olney:

The Dodgers have interest in McCutchen, sources say, and his relatively modest salary of $14 million in 2017 and his team option for $14.75 million in 2018 would help L.A. continue to shave away at its payroll, which could take a dramatic turn downward over the next couple of years.

McCutchen hit .256 with 24 homers and 79 RBIs last season.

Royals receiving calls for Dyson
The Kansas City Royals are thought to have a relatively quiet offseason, but they have received called about the availability of outfielder Jarrod Dyson, according to ESPN's Jerry Crasnick. However, that doesn't mean they're going to make a deal:

Dyson played in 107 games for the Royals last season, the second-most in a season in his career. He hit .278 with one homer and 25 RBIs with 30 stolen bases.

Votto wants to stay with Reds
Cincinnati Reds star Joey Votto has also been mentioned in trade rumors throughout the offseason, but he wants to stay with the club and will not waive his no-trade clause, reports Mark Sheldon of MLB.com:

As long as the Reds first baseman keeps producing while signed to a monster contract for a small-market club, his name will come up in trade rumors and trade suggestions each offseason.

But Votto's feelings, and the club's, don't follow the narrative. He has no interest in waiving the full no-trade clause in his contract and going to another team.

"I do understand why there is a conversation. It's interesting," Votto said as the team gathered Friday night for Redsfest. "After a while, you get used to it. You don't pay much attention to it because if they're going to [report rumors] five years in a row, then at some point there's not much meaning to it."

Votto has seven years and $179 million left on his contract. He hit .326 with 29 homers and 97 RBIs last season.
