Opening Day is now just days away as spring training comes to a close, meaning baseball fans won't have to wait much longer to see what will happen with the 2016 season. The Kansas City Royals are looking to defend their World Series title, but it's the Chicago Cubs who enter the season as the favorites to win the championship this year. How does the rest of the field project going into the new year? Here's our MLB Preseason Power Rankings:
30) Philadelphia Phillies
The Phillies are continuing to rebuild, focusing on their farm system and using their major league team as an avenue to help some of their most exciting prospects go.
29) Milwaukee Brewers
Rebuild, rebuild, rebuild. This year is all about getting experience for young players in Milwaukee.
28) Atlanta Braves
Atlanta also has a plethora of young prospects coming up the ranks, giving Atlanta a ton of hope for the future. However, that means they don't have a whole lot to contribute on the field this year.
27) Colorado Rockies
Colorado has finished last in the NL West three of the last four seasons, and with no major offseason moves made to improve the roster, they should finish there again.
26) San Diego Padres
San Diego swung and missed last offseason by trying to bring in a bunch of big name players, but they haven't done anything to get better after their struggles last year.
25) Cincinnati Reds
Cincinnati is in a tricky place. Joey Vott, Jay Bruce, Brandon Phillips and Devin Mesoraco are still on their roster, but they're really trying to rebuild. Could be another season full of trades for the Reds this year.
24) Minnesota Twins
The Twins are a young team still developing. Don't expect them to do much this year.
23) Oakland A's
Oakland has an excellent bullpen, but the rest of their roster is still a work in progress.
22) Miami Marlins
Miami was crushed by injuries last season and could be a dark horse this season if they're fully healthy. They just don't appear to have as much depth on paper to compete with the top teams in the league.
21) Baltimore Orioles
Baltimore's lineup and rotation are both inconsistent, but still return most of the same roster that was competitive for a playoff spot. That has to count for something, right?
20) Los Angeles Angels
Mike Trout? Good. Albert Pujols? Solid. The rest of the lineup? Ehhhhhh.
19) Chicago White Sox
Chicago is expected to be much improved as their young roster continues to develop, but they still have a long way to go.
18) Tampa Bay Rays
Tampa Bay is used to doing less with more, yet they have a very good rotation headlined by Chris Archer. Now, their lineup just has to produce consistently.
17) Arizona Diamondbacks
Zach Grienke and Shelby Miller give Arizona two pitching aces to go with a soild offense headlined by Paul Goldschmidt. Now we just have to see exactly how big of an impact Grienke and Miller will have.
16) Cleveland Indians
Shortstop Francisco Lindor turned Cleveland into a great defensive team, and if that can continue this year, this team will be very, very tough to score on with a dominant rotation.
15) Detroit Tigers
Detroit rebuilt their bullpen, signed starter Jordan Zimmerman and added outfielder Justin Upton. Now, we have to see how it all comes together.
14) St. Louis Cardinals
Losing Jason Heyward hurts, but this team still won 100 games despite injuries to Adam Wainwright, Matt Holliday and Matt Adams. With those guys back and fully healthy, the Cards will be very, very good again.
13) Washington Nationals
Losing Jordan Zimmermann, Ian Desmond, Yunel Escobar, Denard Span, Drew Storen and Doug Fister really hurts, but they did bring in Ben Revere and Mets playoff hero Daniel Murphy. Plus, they still have Bryce Harper, and he's pretty good.
12) Seattle Mariners
Seattle made major changes to both their everyday roster and bullpen this offseason, giving them playoff expectations. Of course, they had those last year, too...
11) Boston Red Sox
Signing David Price gave Boston the pitching ace they've so desperately needed, but there are still questions about their everyday players (notably Pablo Sandoval and Hanley Ramirez).
10) New York Yankees
Aroldis Chapman gives New York perhaps the best bullpen in the majors, bolstering a roster that was already good enough to make the playoffs last year.
9) Kansas City Royals
The defending World Series champs are expected to take a step back without Johnny Cueto and Ben Zobrist, but they're the champs for a reason - this team will be just fine.
8) Texas Rangers
Texas tried tanking last year after Yu Darvish's Tommy John surgery - and they still backed their way into the playoffs. With Darvish back in tow with Cole Hamels in the rotation, this team is very dangerous.
7) Toronto Blue Jays
Losing David Price hurts Toronto, but Marcus Stroman will lessen the blow as he is back and fully healthy from a knee injury that limited him to four games last year. Plus, with that offense, they are never out of a game.
6) San Francisco Giants
Maybe we should put the Giants at No. 1 with this being an even year, but they sit at six for now due to questions about Johnny Cueto and Jeff Samardzija. If they play well, San Francisco will have easily the best rotation in the majors.
5) Pittsburgh Pirates
You may not realize the Pirates won over 100 games last year because of their loss to the Cubs in the NL Wild Card last year, but they did - and everyone is back.
4) Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers still have as much on-paper talent as anyone in the league, and will be given a boost by Rookie of the Year frontrunner Corey Seager.
3) New York Mets
New York may have gotten lucky with Yoenis Cespedes' hot streak last season, but there's no denying the talent that is on this roster. Cespedes is back and will carry the offense again, plus the revamped middle infield of Neil Walker and Asdrubal Cabrera will help their defense.
2) Houston Astros
This young team will only be better after last year's surprise playoff appearance. Having Carlos Gomez for a full year will help them compete for the AL pennant, as will another dominant season from Carlos Correa.
1) Chicago Cubs
Not only are Chicago's young stars returning from last year's NLCS run, but the Cubs added ace John Lackey to their rotation, along with stars Jason Heyward and Ben Zobrist. On paper, they're by far the best team in the league.
