The MLB season is over two months old, and the contenders are starting to separate themselves from the pretenders. There's still plenty of time for teams to turn things around, but we have a good idea of which teams are real World Series threats. With that in mind, t's time for our weekly look at how all 30 teams stack up against each other.
The win-loss mark is the most important thing in these power rankings, but it's not everything. How a club has played recently as well as injuries affect where they stand. With that in mind, here are our MLB Power Rankings after 10 weeks.
1. Chicago Cubs (Last Week: 1)
Record: 43-18
This is a no-brainer. The Cubs are dominating this year, and are clearly the best team in the MLB. Heck, if they finished a game or two below .500 the rest of the way, they'd still surpass 90 wins.
2. Washington Nationals (LW: 3)
Record: 39-24
Daniel Murphy looks like one of the better free agency pick ups this year. He's helped the team go 10-3 in their last 13 games, despite limited contributions from Bryce Harper.
3. Texas Rangers (LW: 5)
Record: 39-24
Texas is red-hot and has surged into first place in the AL West, going 8-2 over its last 10 games. However, a pending MRI on Yu Darvish for neck and shoulder stiffness could hurt them.
4. San Francisco Giants (LW: 4)
Record: 38-23
The Giants have battled for close wins, especially this month. They're 5-5 in their last 10 games, but still lead the NL West.
5. Boston Red Sox (LW: 2)
Record: 36-26
Boston is just 4-6 in their its 10 games, which helped them drop from the No. 2 spot. Still, this is a quality team and in position to make a playoff run.
6. Baltimore Orioles (LW: 8)
Record: 36-26
The Orioles have some questions on the pitching staff, but the results are there. They're 6-4 in their last 10 and tied with Boston for the AL East next year.
7. Cleveland Indians (LW: 9)
Record: 35-27
The Indians have claimed first place in the AL Central and might not give it up. They've played well and are 7-3 in their last 10. Corey Kluber is fresh off a great effort and should continue to pitch great.
8. St. Louis Cardinals (LW: 14)
Record: 35-28
In late May, the Cardinals were 24-24. Since then, they've gone 11-4 behind a strong offense. Catching the Cubs will be difficult, but a wild card berth can still happen. Strangely, the Cardinals are 15-16 at home.
9. New York Mets (LW: 7)
Record: 34-28
The Mets are just third to last in the NL in runs score. While the team's 34-28 mark is solid, they need to start being more productive at the plate to catch the Nationals.
10. Toronto Blue Jays (LW: 11)
Record: 35-30
The Blue Jays are doing better than many expected without Troy Tulowitzki. They're still 2.5 games back of the Red Sox and Orioles in the AL East, but are 6-4 in their last 10.
11. Seattle Mariners (LW: 6)
Record: 34-29
The Mariners are stuck five games behind the Rangers. They've hit a bit of a rough patch recently, going just 3-7 in their last 10 games.
12. Kansas City Royals (LW: 10)
Record: 32-30
The good news is the Royals are on a two-game winning streak. The bad news is that came on the heels of an eight-game losing streak that knocked them out of the AL Central lead. Injuries have not been kind to the Royals this year.
13. Los Angeles Dodgers (LW: 13)
Record: 33-31
The Dodgers are lucky to have Clayton Kershaw, who is 7-0 in his last eight starts. Even more impressive, he has 122 strikeouts and just six walks this year. The Dodgers are another one of the NL teams that should contend for a wild card berth. If the season ended today, they'd be just out of it.
14. Detroit Tigers (LW: 18)
Record: 32-30
The Tigers are playing well, going 7-3 in their last 10 games. Detroit is tied with the Royals in the AL Central, just three games back.
15. Pittsburgh Pirates (LW: 12)
Record: 32-31
It's been a rough two weeks for the Pirates and they're in the midst of a five-game losing streak after being swept by the Cardinals. It's NL wild card spot or bust for Pittsburgh.
16. Miami Marlins (LW: 15)
Record: 32-21
Giancarlo Stanton continues to struggle mightily, hitting just .120 from May 7th to the weekend. And yet, the Marlins are over .500.
17. New York Yankees (LW: 21)
Record: 31-32
Don't look now, but after a rough start to the season, the Yankees are almost back to .500. They're only 5.5 games back in the AL East and are still very much alive.
18. Chicago White Sox (LW: 16)
Record: 31-32
The White Sox are pulling out all the stops to make a push in the AL Central, trading for James Shields and calling up No. 2 prospect Tim Anderson. But that hasn't stopped the White Sox from falling below .500 after going 3-7 in their last 10. Now 4.5 games back, the White Sox need to turn things around.
19. Tampa Bay Rays (LW: 23)
Record: 29-32
Tampa is in AL East cellar, but they're only 6.5 games back. The Rays have gone 7-3 in their last 10 games, with the pitching staff showing some improvement.
20. Milwaukee Brewers (LW: 24)
Record: 30-33
Milwaukee has gone 6-4 in their last 10, but still trail the second-place Cardinals by five games. Getting Matt Garza back could provide a big boost.
21. Colorado Rockies (LW: 25)
Record: 30-33
Colorado still has some issues in the bullpen, but went 5-2 last week. The Rockies have problems at home, where they're three games below .500.
22. Houston Astros (LW: 17)
Record: 30-35
Houston started to turn things around, but the Astros have gone 2-5 in their last seven games. A team many expected to at least finish near the top of AL West is 10 games back and five games under .500.
23. Philadelphia Phillies (LW: 19)
Record: 29-34
Philadelphia has gone 1-11 against the Cubs and Nationals in the last two weeks. Playing those teams are tough, and it's a major reason why the Phillies are below .500.
24. Los Angeles Angels (LW: 22)
Record: 27-36
It was a rough week for the Angels, who went just 1-6. The Angels are 3-7 in their last 10 games and heading in the wrong direction.
25. Arizona Diamondbacks (LW: 26)
Record: 28-37
Much to Arizona's delight, Zack Greinke is starting to turn things around after a bad start. But the Diamondbacks are still 10.5 games back of the Dodgers.
26. Oakland Athletics (LW: 20)
Record: 26-36
The A's are struggling. A win Sunday snapped a seven-game losing streak that dropped them to the bottom of AL West.
27. San Diego Padres (LW: 28)
Record: 26-38
San Diego is in the bottom of the NL West, although they're the best of the NL cellar teams. They're on a two-game losing streak, but had won three of four before that.
28. Cincinnati Reds (LW: 27)
Record: 24-39
After an awful 11-game losing streak in May, the Reds have started to turn things around. They've won 7 of their last 11, although they'll still likely be sellers at the trade deadline.
29. Minnesota Twins (LW: 29)
Record: 19-43
It's been a bad year for the Twins. They're 16 games below .500 and even a 4-6 mark in their last 10 games isn't going to turn things around. They're on pace for 112 losses.
30. Atlanta Braves (LW: 30)
Record: 18-44
The only think keeping the Twins out of the bottom spot is the Braves. Atlanta has been just awful, and will sell hard until the trade deadline.
