Football's great and all, but we don't ignore baseball just because the season is over. Luckily for us, talking about baseball is a 24/7/365 thing, especially with the litany of free agent and trade rumors around the Majors right now. We're here to highlight the three most intriguing rumblings around with our MLB Free Agency Rumors Roundup For Dec. 2nd:
Ben Zobrist's Price Keeps Rising
Zobrist is wanted by several teams, including the Royals, Cardinals, Mets and a few others. As a result, the price for his services continues to rise. Yahoo Sports' Jeff Passan reports his asking price is now four years, $60 million. That might end up being too much for the Royals.
Mike Leake To The Cardinals?
Now that David Price has signed with the Red Sox, the pitching market is starting to settle. The Cardinals wanted Price, but were unable to land him. Jerry Crasnick says the Cardinals could sign Leake in their quest to add a pitcher. Leake pitched for the rival Cincinnati Reds before being dealt the Giants at the deadline. An innings machine, he'll command a solid contract. Of course it won't match Price's huge deal.
Latest On Greinke
With Price off the table, Zack Greinke is the biggest name left on the pitching market. USA Today's Bob Nightengale says it's down to two teams for Greinke; the Dodgers and Giants. Expect a 5 or 6 year deal for Greinke, and a large contract that could top Price's. The Dodgers are still the favorite, but the Giants could steal Greinke away.
