While most of us baseball fans are impatiently waiting on Opening Day's first pitch, we have to fulfill our craving for Major League Baseball through news about trades and free agent signings. We are currently in that tough spot of the year right before Spring Training begins but still have over a month to endure. This gives us a lot of time to speculate about which teams made the best moves in the offseason, and who'll make that October run to take home the World Series. Let's check out who the early favorites are in our way too early Major League Baseball power rankings for 2015:
30. Arizona Diamondbacks
The Diamondbacks are a young team that's got a lot of pieces to find before they're relevant in the powerful NL West again. One bright spot for Arizona is first baseman Paul Goldschmidt, who was having a phenomenal 2014 season despite the team's struggles until he was hit by a pitch and finished the season on the disabled list. Goldschmidt could prove to be a great target for some trades that could help the Diamondbacks a lot in the near future.
29. Texas Rangers
The Rangers look a lot better on a lineup card than what Texas fans will experience this season. Behind Yu Darvish, the Rangers are going to have an extremely difficult time finding consistency, even with the recent signing of Yovanni Gallardo from the Milwaukee Brewers. On top of a sketchy rotation, things don't get much better coming out of the bullpen either. I would not be surprised if Neftali Feliz is pulled into the rotation from his closing duties. On offense, Texas will score some runs, but the run supports won't be nearly equal to runs allowed.
28.Colorado Rockies
The Rockies' lineup boasts one of the most talented infields in the entire Major League. That comes at a cost, however, as Colorado's pitching will be easily one of the worst units in the League. The Rockies have LaTroy Hawkins listed as their current closer, and there's no way that'll last 162 games.
27. Minnesota Twins
The Twins showed some promise in 2014 but didn't exactly upgrade their weaker pitching. Minnesota added RHP Ervin Santana, who started strong with the Atlanta Braves last season winning his first four games before losing eight of his next eleven decisions. The Twins will struggle amongst the arms race that's occurring in the AL Central.
26. Philadelphia Phillies
The Phillies finished below the .500 mark in 2014, and results aren't going to improve over night. The one glimmer of hope for Philadelphia will be the return of Cliff Lee after being injured for most of 2014. The Phillies roster continues to age, which will ruin their chances at becoming a legitimate contender in 2015.
25. New York Mets
The Mets pitching staff comes into 2015 with a lot of potential, but New York's going to struggle with scoring runs. The Mets added Michael Cuddyer, hoping they can keep him healthy and return him to his 2013 form. The Mets could make a move up our rankings this year if they can find success at the plate.
24. Chicago Cubs
The Cubs made a huge splash in the offseason with the hiring of Joe Maddon from the Tampa Bay Rays. Maddon will try to change the historical misfortunes that have plagued the north side of Chicago, and the Cubs will continue to move in the right direction during the 2015 season.
23. Tampa Bay Rays
The Rays come into the 2015 season after losing two huge pieces with both ace David Price and manager Joe Maddon now with other teams. The Rays' offense will be the determining factor that will decide whether this team will sink or swim in the AL East. Luckily for the Rays, they have some good, young arms in their rotation that will help their cause.
22. Milwaukee Brewers
The Brewers will have to learn to finish strong this season, after falling flat on their face at the finish of 2014. Milwaukee found some great production from both Kyle Lohse and Matt Garza but will fill the void after the departure of Yovani Gallardo. Jonathan Lucroy will try to be the best offensive catcher in the National League again this season after hitting for a .301 average in 2014.
21. Toronto Blue Jays
