Monday's game between the Houston Astros and the LA Angels wasn't just depressing because of the score (the Angels won 9-1). The contest recorded a 0.0 Nielsen rating - just the second time in MLB history a game has received such low marks. Unsurprisingly, the Astros were responsible for the only other 0.0 rating - last September against the Indians.
Shockingly, even Monday's pregame show did better - its 0.2 rating meant that at least one of Nielsen's Houston-area viewers tuned in.
We should note that thanks to Comcast's continued quest to make everyone in America miserable, CSN Houston (which broadcasts Astros games) is currently unavailable to many Houston residents. Even if the entire metropolitan area had been able to watch, though, the lack of excitement in Houston so far this season doesn't suggest that the ratings would have been much higher.
