The Major League Baseball season is now in full swing, and some players have cemented themselves as forces to be reckoned with this season. Here are the five best players in the National League so far this year:
5) Dee Gordon, 2B, Miami Marlins
Gordon is known for his blazing speed, but it's his MLB-leading .412 batting average that is turning heads. Throw in 12 stolen bases and his usual good defense, and there's no denying that Gordon looks like he's having a breakout season.
4) Buster Posey, C, San Francisco Giants
Posey's impressive consistency is worth noting, and he's continued to produce this year with a .293 average, five home runs, and 19 RBIs. However, his real impact can be felt on the defensive side of the ball, where he controls the running game and the strike zone like no one else.
3) Giancarlo Stanton, RF, Miami Marlins
Stanton's .250 batting average leaves something to be desired, but his eight home runs and 30 RBIs show he's still the force at the plate we all expect him to be.
2) Adrian Gonzalez, 1B, Los Angeles Dodgers
Gonzalez in second in the league in batting average (.371), third in home runs (nine) and second in RBIs (30), yet he rarely gets the credit he deserves. He's been extremely consistent for the Dodgers this year, something Los Angeles desperately needs.
1) Bryce Harper, RF, Washington Nationals
Harper is tied for the league lead in home runs with 12, leads the MLB with 31 RBIs, and is batting over .300 all while leading the favorites to win the World Series. He got off to a slow start to the season, but his unreal recent surge has him poised for a breakout season.
