The Baltimore Orioles are going to the ALCS.
The Orioles pulled off the sweep of the Tigers, doing so with a 2-1 win over ace David Price.
Nelson Cruz hit a two-run home run in the sixth, which was all the offense needed on a day where Norris and the bullpen dominated.
Turning Point: In a scoreless tie, Nelson Cruz crushed a two-run home run off of David Price in the sixth inning to give Baltimore the lead.
They would not relinquish that score, as Bud Norris and the bullpen finished off the sweep of the powerful Detroit team.
Orioles MVP: Nelson Cruz had the big hit, but Bud Norris pitched tremendously well in a victory.
His 6.1 shutout innings helped Baltimore clinch the ALDS series, setting them up for a matchup against either the Royals or Angels.
Tigers MVP: David Price - 8 IP, 2 ER, 5 H, 6 K's
Price gets the loss that ends Detroit's season, but it was by no means his fault on a day where the offense scored no runs. He pitched like an ace.
What's Next?
The Orioles await the winner of the Royals/Angels series. They will have home field advantage with a Royals victory, but would be the road team in an Angels comeback.
The Tigers season is over with a sweep at the hands of the Orioles. Detroit has taken a step back every year since losing the 2012 World Series. This roster is still solid, and they will be obvious contenders next year.
