Former Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Alex Cobb is seeing a lot of interest on the open market this winter as a quality pitcher and cheaper alternative to some of the high-priced aces who are looking for huge paydays. Many teams are interested, but who are the most likely to sign him? Here are this three most likely destinations.
3) Minnesota Twins
The Twins were a breakout team in 2017, earning the second Wild Card spot in the AL - and they're hoping their return to the playoffs isn't just a one-time thing. As such, they're looking to strengthen and deepen their roster this offseason, starting with their rotation. Cobb would help strengthen the depth of that rotation and would be a cheaper addition, which is important for a team like the Twins who usually don't spend as much as other top teams.
2) New York Yankees
Masahiro Tanaka and CC Sabathia will be back with the Yankees next season, but New York would still like to add some depth to their rotation. Sonny Gray and Luis Severino are known to be key cogs in New York's rotation next season and they'd love to add Cobb to that group. New York likes that Cobb has experience in the AL East and has been successful in the division.

1) Chicago Cubs
With Jake Arrieta expected to command a contract the Cubs won't want to match, they are looking to add a quality pitcher rotation next season. Enter Cobb. Chicago will be looking to save money while adding production, and Cobb is a good bargain for a mid-rotation guy. His relationship with new Cubs pitching coach Jim Hickey makes them the favorite, and he's only expressed an interest in signing with Chicago.
