We caused quite a bit of controversy with our list of the 4 MLB Fan Bases With The Most Class, but now it's time to double down and look at the colleges on the opposite end of the spectrum. Here's our list of the 3 MLB Fan Bases With The Least Class.
Boston Red Sox
Oy. A large sect Red Sox fans are a special breed, mixing leftover "woe is me" sentiment from the pre-2004 Curse days and a sense of entitlement which is frankly suffocating when you're around them for too long. Three World Series titles over the past decade-plus have spoiled the Fenway Faithful, leading to exaggerated dismay every time the Red Sox fail to live up to outsized expectations. Get some earplugs before you head to a game in Boston, or listen to a stream of the radio call on your phone. Trust us.
Philadelphia Phillies
Citizen's Bank Park played host to the most disgustingly inhuman display of fandom that we've ever heard of when a drunken fan intentionally vomited on an 11-year-old girl. That's just extreme example of a pattern of simply awful behavior which has followed the team (and all of Philly's sports teams, for that matter) from stadium to stadium. Batteries in snowballs. Booing Santa Claus. Alcohol-fueled fights. Welcome to the City of Brotherly Love.
Los Angeles Dodgers
When the one thing that sticks out about your fan bases is its penchant for arriving in the second inning and leaving at the end of the seventh, you know there's a problem. There's a good portion of diehard Dodgers fans who decry this freeway-filling rite of passage, but it's still gotta be irritating to the players on the field when they're in a close game and have to watch thousands of fans showing their rear ends walking up the stairs. Fair-weather fans are the name of the game, which is sad considering just what a temple Dodger Stadium is from a baseball perspective.
