2014 Question for Each MLB Team: AL East

The AL East will try to defend the World Series title that the Boston Red Sox earned last season. Here is a question each team must answer in 2014:

Baltimore Orioles

Question: Can Chris Davis continue to be an offensive juggernaut for the Orioles this season?

Chris Davis was in a league of his own last season, belting 53 home runs. The Orioles will need his presence in the lineup as much as last season. The Orioles add the bat of Nelson Cruz to help Davis, and could be a sneaky contender in the AL East this season.

Boston Red Sox

Question: Can the Red Sox fill the void of departing players?

Losing Jacoby Ellisbury would be difficult for any team in the league, but Boston thinks they've found an answer in center field with Grady Sizemore. Sizemore has had an impressive spring, hitting the baseball very well. He will look to have his first full healthy year since 2011.

New York Yankees

Question: How will the huge free agent signings pan out for the Yankees?

Speaking of Ellisbury, he's crossed over to the "dark side" and brought some friends with him. Brian McCann and Carlos Beltran join Ellisbury in what was easily the biggest free agent signings of 2014 by one team. Will these guys be able to help Derek Jeter win the Fall Classic in his final season?

Tampa Bay Rays

Question: Can Joe Maddon work even more magic for the Rays in 2014?

Joe Maddon has really kept this team in contention for the AL East for quite some time now, and people forget that the Rays have been to the playoffs three of the past four seasons. Maddon has a young rotation that is extremely talented and anchored by veteran David Price. Will Maddon be able to make a return trip to the playoffs?

Toronto Blue Jays

Question: Can veteran pitching produce wins for the Blue Jays?

The Blue Jays lineup looks pretty strong heading into 2014 and runs will not be the issue. The glaring issue with this team is starting pitching. Will this veteran staff be able to take the Blue Jays to the next level?
