COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS • It’s been rare this season for Missouri to step on the court against a bigger frontline than its own supersized tandem of Jeremiah Tilmon and Jontay Porter, but the Tigers’ freshmen met their match Saturday at Texas A&M.
It’s no coincidence Mizzou’s worst offensive performance of the season came on the day the Tigers faced the Aggies and their seasoned 6-foot-10 forwards, Tyler Davis and Robert Williams. The twin towers took turns controlling the paint in Mizzou’s most lopsided loss in two months, a 60-49 defeat at Reed Arena.
Davis (11 points, 14 rebounds, three blocks) and Williams (13 points, nine rebounds) had their way with Mizzou’s rookie forwards, while the Tigers looked just as helpless against 6-10 Tonny Trocha-Morelos, who led the Aggies with 14 points, mostly on jumpers from the perimeter.
