MORGANTOWN, W.Va. * The Barry Odom Era of Missouri football, just like the Gary Pinkel Era before it and the Dan Devine Era decades ago, began with a loss.
The Tigers came here as 10-point underdogs but counted on a sturdy defense to keep things competitive while an offense in training wheels took time to develop. Instead, the Tigers came up empty on both sides of the ball in a 26-11 loss to West Virginia.
While Mizzou mounted an admirable rally in the final minutes, West Virginia’s offensive line, missing its best left guard and left tackle, established the narrative early along the line of scrimmage.
