When Lisa Stone was ready to return to coaching after a year’s hiatus, she discovered a plethora of opportunities with 78 Division I women’s basketball openings in the spring of 2012.
Schools across the country were looking to upgrade in a sport in which the pressure to win has increased in the past 10 to 20 years. St. Louis University was among those schools, and the two ended up being a match.
The same process has played out at numerous women’s basketball programs in the region since the calendar flipped to 2010. The results have been similar in two ways.
