COLUMBIA, Mo. — Jacob Peeler had never met Missouri coach Eli Drinkwitz when he interviewed to become his wide receivers coach in January. But he knew what came with the job: a return to the Southeastern Conference and a chance to coach the No. 1 receiver prospect in the country.
It’s been a decade since Missouri added an offensive playmaker who carries the kind of expectations into his freshman season that Luther Burden III takes into 2022. That’s the price of being a five-star recruit and the nation’s top-rated wide receiver. Burden’s transition from high school to the SEC will be measured by his impact on the field this fall and no person will help guide that experience more than Peeler, MU’s fifth receivers coach in the last six years.
