COLUMBIA, Mo. — Jamal Roberts is no stranger to scoring on Faurot Field.
During last year’s Class 4 football state championship game, the St. Mary’s standout running back wound up in Memorial Stadium’s end zones twice. On one rush in the second quarter of that game, Roberts busted his way through congestion around the line of scrimmage and split the gap between two defenders on his way to a 54-yard score.
Now as a true freshman at Missouri, the running back from St. Louis just might be feeling a bit of déjà vu.
While he appears to be competing for the third tailback spot in the Tigers’ depth chart, Roberts has shown flashes of potential that could give him a contributing role this year and land him in the end zone of what’s now his home stadium.
