COLUMBIA, Mo. — If Missouri defensive coordinator Blake Baker ever finds himself in a back-alley fight and in need of physical assistance, he isn’t taking Eli Drinkwitz‘s suggestion for backup.
Drinkwitz put forward running back Cody Schrader as the tough man for the job. Baker stuck with his pick from a week before — his fisticuffs “first-round pick.”
“(Schrader’s) a physical back, I’m not gonna deny that,” Baker said, “but I’d still take DJ Coleman.”
A savvy call, at least according to the Missouri defensive end’s high school coach at South Atlanta, Brad Stephens, and then-defensive coordinator Darrell Ransom.
