Bond, who played high school ball for Westminster Christian Academy, hit .268 as a senior at Missouri. His best college season came his junior year, when he hit .307 with 10 home runs.
Bond went undrafted in 2018, but the Astros selected him in the 23rd round of last year's draft. The catcher elected to return to Missouri for his final year of eligibility instead of signing a professional contract.
"Hard to imagine there were 118 catchers selected today and (Bond) wasn't one of them," Missouri coach Steve Bieser tweeted after day three of the 2018 draft.
