COLUMBIA, Mo. — In the week leading up to Missouri’s matchup against Southeast Missouri State, coach Eli Drinkwitz said that it would be “absolutely insane” for any player to think they were going to play solely because it was an FCS foe. The only way a player was going to see the field, he said, was if they earned it.
Ultimately, a season-high 71 players saw action, but none made more of an impact on their future role than walk-on running back Michael Cox. He turned upfield for a 55-yard touchdown late in the 59-28 win and totaled 77 yards on five rushes.
