COLUMBIA, Mo. — With a chance to start 3-0 for the first time in seven years, the Missouri basketball team heads Sunday to Wichita State, a team that’s already overcome its share of adversity this season.
The Shockers and highly successful coach Gregg Marshall split ways last month shortly before the season after multiple media reports uncovered allegations of verbal and physical abuse of players over the years. Things haven’t gotten much easier under interim coach Isaac Brown. Two WSU players tested positive for COVID-19 and several more were forced to quarantine as high-risk close contacts, leaving the Shockers with just eight available players for last week’s season-opening game against Oral Roberts.
