COLUMBIA, Mo. • Missouri senior cornerback David Johnson and junior safety Chaston Ward have left the team and plan to transfer, team spokesman Chad Moller confirmed Tuesday. Johnson graduated from MU earlier this summer. Ward will transfer after the current session of summer classes.
Johnson, listed third on the preseason depth chart at one cornerback position, appeared in 19 games off the bench during the 2013 and 2014 seasons, making eight tackles with one forced fumble. Johnson came to MU from Spring, Texas.
Ward was listed as the No. 2 strong safety at the start of spring practices but mostly played with the third team behind Anthony Sherrils and Cortland Browning once Browning returned from injury.
