Tigers trail Vandy in fourth quarter

UPDATED, 5:50 p.m.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. • Missouri discovered an offensive playmaker in the third quarter at Vanderbilt: punter Corey Fatony. Playing 20 miles from his hometown of Franklin, Tenn., the freshman gained 26 yards on a fake run up the middle from MU’s 27-yard line, the longest play from scrimmage of the game.

But, like the 37 previous possessions dating back three weeks, the Tigers couldn’t capitalize with a touchdown. The drive fizzled just outside of the red zone and Andrew Baggett’s 47-yard field goal attempt slammed into the left upright.

Vanderbilt’s 7-3 lead was upheld heading into the fourth quarter.
