Tigers pleased with Printz's progress

COLUMBIA, Mo. • It was an unusual question to ask midway through preseason camp, but Missouri quarterback Eddie Printz handled it like a savvy veteran.

Why are you still here?

The redshirt sophomore served as Maty Mauk’s backup last season, and at no point did Mizzou’s coaches indicate Printz had a shot for playing time, even when Mauk struggled through a brutal midseason stretch. In the offseason, the Tigers added highly touted Drew Lock, the presumed heir to Mauk, who has two more years of eligibility.

Quarterbacks who don’t play often transfer — the Tigers had their share of QBs jump ship over the years — and with Mauk set as Mizzou’s quarterback of the present and Lock in place for the future, Printz became a logical candidate for another zip code.
