COLUMBIA, Mo. • A year ago, the Kim Anderson regime at Missouri began with a dud, a season-opening loss to Missouri-Kansas City, a defeat from which the Tigers could never quite recover during a dreadful nine-win season.
What a difference a year makes.
Season two under Anderson’s watch couldn’t have started much better Friday night at Mizzou Arena as the Tigers defeated Wofford 83-74 behind freshman Kevin Puryear’s 20 points in the host game for the CBE Hall of Fame Classic. Namon Wright, after serving a one-game suspension during exhibition play, added 18 points. With the victory, Missouri eclipsed its point total from every game last season.
