Tiger Takeaways: Young guns Lock, Eason put on show

COLUMBIA, MO. • When the college football season began, one of the popular storylines around the Southeastern Conference was the league’s shortage of quarterback talent.

For three hours 50 minutes Saturday, two teenagers put that angle to rest on Faurot Field.

Missouri’s Drew Lock and Georgia’s Jacob Eason combined for 684 passing yards and six touchdowns. They led lengthy drives, delivered clutch third-down throws and operated without much help from their running games — both against credible defenses. Both quarterbacks began the season as part of a rotation. Their backups never left the sideline Saturday - and might never again.
