Today we’re talking about ticket surcharges. Convenience fees. Service fees. Whatever you want to call it, it’s an added cost that us consumers are all too familiar with. Well now, thanks to Tennessee Athletics, we’re seeing a new and unique type of service fee that will likely be brought to most college campuses in the future.
On Tuesday, Tennessee announced that fans for all sports will be charged up to a 10% “talent fee” on tickets beginning in 2025, with the funds going to support the Volunteer NIL fund. That, of course, means fans buying tickets will be paying more, with the extra funds theoretically going directly to the athletes.
