COLUMBIA, Mo. • Janelle Sparks wants two things to happen on Saturday night: Adam Sparks returns an interception for a touchdown, and Jared Sparks catches a touchdown.
That’s because her sons, Jared and Adam, are playing on opposing teams when Missouri travels to Purdue for its first road game of the season.
Jared, a redshirt sophomore, is one of Purdue’s leading wide receivers. Adam, a sophomore, starts at cornerback for Missouri.
The two briefly matched up late in Purdue’s 35-3 stomping of Missouri last year, but Jared was splitting time between quarterback and receiver while Adam was low on Missouri’s depth chart.
