COLUMBIA, Mo. • Missouri linebacker Donavin Newsom came off the field midway through Thursday's scrimmage holding his left shoulder awkwardly. He re-entered the scrimmage and played a series or two later but had his arm heavily wrapped and iced before heading into the locker room.
Newsom, the Tigers' expected starter at strongside linebacker, was in a red jersey during Friday's morning practice with what's been diagnosed as a strained left shoulder. It's uncertain when the junior from Parkway North will be available to practice. He's considered day to day. With Newsom sidelined, senior Clarence Green will likely take over with the first-team defense.
