Downtown Columbia’s beloved pizza joint opened its Eighth Street doors to customers last Friday night.
Crews began moving booths, chairs and signs from the restaurant’s original Ninth and Elm location early Monday morning. Workers painted the interior the signature green and recreated "the pit"—the area where customers watch chefs make their pizzas—in order to make the temporary location feel like home.
"Things will be just as quirky and just as strange," said Shakespeare’s General Manager Toby Epstein. "It’s gonna be just like Shakespeare’s in that sense."
Epstein said the move was hectic.
