SEC's title drought becoming worrisome

COLUMBIA, Mo. • When the first Southeastern Conference football game kicks off Sept. 3, the league’s national championship drought will be at two years, seven months and 27 days.

Oh, the horror.

After winning seven straight national titles from 2006-12, the SEC has watched the ACC’s Florida State and the Big Ten’s Ohio State capture the last two championships. Last year, which marked the debut of the four-team College Football Playoff, the SEC was a bystander in the national title game for the first time since 2005 as Ohio State defeated the Pac-12’s Oregon.

Since Alabama won the league’s last national title, six states have legalized marijuana in some fashion … the Supreme Court ruled in favor of same-sex marriage .
