Sam was drafted by the St. Louis Rams in the seventh round of the 2014 NFL draft. He was waived by the Rams, then signed to the Dallas Cowboys’ practice squad. From there, Sam played one game in the Canadian Football League in 2015 for the Montreal Alouettes. He left the Alouettes during the season to deal with personal issues.
Sam, 26, was a unanimous All-American as a senior at Missouri in 2013, when he also was the SEC Defensive Player of the Year.
