COLUMBIA, Mo. — Injuries ended four of the first five seasons Mizzou’s Grant Leeth spent on a college wrestling mat. Then this spring, just as his shoulders finally cooperated long enough for an inspiring comeback, the coronavirus pandemic abruptly stopped another season, robbing Leeth a chance to repeat the All-American honor he earned two years ago.
There was a time late in his sixth collegiate wrestling season that Leeth convinced himself he was done competing. Then, a personal reckoning.
Granted two added years of eligibility back in 2018, he’ll instead come back for a seventh college season in the fall, chasing the goals that only injury and COVID-19 could halt.
