COLUMBIA, MO. • Torrence Watson has known Riley Maher for about a year now, but Saturday was the first time he got the chance to meet her.
Missouri players wore the names of a pediatric cancer patient on their warmups ahead of the fourth annual “Rally for Rhyan” game Saturday, and Watson, the Missouri freshman guard, wore Maher’s name across his back.
Maher, a senior at O’Fallon High School, is in 100-percent remission after battling primary mediastinal B-cell lymphoma and was one of many pediatric cancer survivors honored at halftime of Saturday’s game, including 8-year-old Rhyan Loos, the charity game’s namesake, who has been free of cancer for nearly two years.
