There was a time not long ago when the University of Texas lorded over the Big 12, getting its way on the field of play and in the back rooms when key conference decisions were made.
Those strong-arm tactics were a major reason Nebraska, Colorado, Texas A&M and Missouri bolted to better conferences. In 2011, Nebraska joined the Big Ten and Colorado joined the Pac 12. A year later, Texas A&M and Missouri made their respective debuts in the Southeastern Conference.
Now Mizzou has a chance to show Texas that Barry Odom's program is in a much better position than the Longhorns' program when the schools meet in the Texas Bowl on Dec.
