COLUMBIA, Mo. — College football fans with no rooting interest in Saturday’s Missouri-Vanderbilt game tuned into SEC Network for the chance to watch history unfold on Faurot Field.
Vandy’s Sarah Fuller, borrowed last week from the women’s soccer team, became the first woman to participate in a college football game for a Power Five conference team when she handled the kickoff duties to open the third quarter.
From their head coach on down, the Tigers could appreciate the milestone moment … while making sure Fuller’s appearance was nothing more than a cameo.
On this sun-drenched morning kickoff, Mizzou’s defense played the role of spoiler, securing its first SEC shutout in two years while keeping the Commodores — and their newly added kicker — out of field-goal range throughout the 41-0 victory.
