COLUMBIA, Mo. — Brady Cook left his quarterbacking coronation battered, bloody and defeated.
There was gauze stuffed into both of his nostrils and spattered streaks of maroon around the red number 12 on his white Chaminade jersey. It was the cost of competition that day. Cook, a senior quarterback at Chaminade who already was committed to playing at Missouri, had carried a depleted Red Devils offense through a duel with eventual state champion De Smet.
Cook accounted for 469 total yards in that Oct. 4, 2019, game. He completed 25 of his 40 passes for 342 yards and two touchdowns.
