COLUMBIA, Mo. — There is no denying the return of war to the Mizzou Arena floor, least of all from the team looking to get back on the right side of a classic Midwestern basketball rivalry.
Missouri and Kansas play each other at noon Sunday on the hardwood, an installment of the Border War that cannot, under any circumstances, blend in as just another nonconference game.
“The Border War is not just a normal game,” MU coach Dennis Gates said. “We never treat it that way. Our fan base is going to be excited. The history of the two programs, back in the Big 8 days into the Big 12 days — and even now, as we represent the SEC, it’s still alive.
