COLUMBIA, MO. • Freshman Michael Porter Jr. has decided not to play for Missouri in Saturday's regular-season finale against Arkansas, the team announced Saturday morning.
On Thursday, Tigers coach Cuonzo Martin said if Porter felt good after practicing Thursday and Friday he could play against the Razorbacks. That won't happen. Rather than leave fans in suspense up until the 5 p.m. tipoff, the team decided to announce Saturday that Porter won't play - and made it clear by Porter's statement it's his decision to sit out Saturday's game.
"After two more practices since coming home from Nashville, the coaching staff and I feel that it is in the best interest of the team and myself to not play tonight," Porter said in a statement released by the athletics department.
