COLUMBIA, Mo. • One veteran and one rookie will both go a long way toward shaping Missouri’s special teams this fall.
Kicker Andrew Baggett, on the verge of setting a big record at Mizzou, returns for his fourth season to handle field goals and PATs, plus kickoff duties. At the other end of the experience spectrum, the Tigers will break in freshman Corey Fatony as the anointed punter. The newcomer from Franklin, Tenn., is Mizzou’s first punter to arrive on campus already on scholarship since 2007, when the Tigers signed junior college transfer Jake Harry.
Since then, Gary Pinkel’s staff has relied on inviting walk-on kickers and punters to join the team with the hope they secure the job and earn a scholarship after a season or two of competition.
