COLUMBIA, MO. • Missouri will apparently have to show the Southeastern Conference it has better players than the league coaches believe. MU landed only one player on the coaches' three-deep preseason All-SEC teams: defensive end Charles Harris, a second-team choice.
Every other SEC team had at least two selections, led by Alabama and Louisiana State with 13 each.
It's an unusually loaded pool of candidates at defensive end across the league. All four first-team defensive linemen were ends, with no tackles earning first-team honors.
After Alabama and LSU, SEC Eastern Division favorite Tennessee had nine selections, followed by Florida with eight, Arkansas, Auburn and Georgia with seven, Texas A&M with six, Ole Miss and Mississippi State with five, Vanderbilt with three and Kentucky and South Carolina with two.
