Calling Phillips “a known predator on campus,” the two former University of Missouri students filed their federal lawsuit Monday in U.S. District Court’s Western District of Missouri, claiming the university’s failures to investigate the women’s claims meant Phillips was never held accountable for misconduct.
University spokesman Christian Basi said Thursday that the school won’t comment “until we’ve had a chance to review the lawsuit thoroughly.”
Phillips, who could not be reached Thursday, was dismissed from the basketball team in February 2018 after the school’s Title IX office began investigating claims from at least four different women.
